Dynamic characterisation of a linearised transfer function of non-ideal buck converters [PDF]

open access: yes
The inherent nonlinear behaviour of DC-DC power supplies complicates the task of working out their linear models, which are essential for a model-oriented control.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Control ofa ThermoelectricCooling Module by Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithms

open access: yesHavacılık ve Uzay Teknolojileri Dergisi
In this study, the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller of a sample thermoelectric cooler(TEC)system model is optimized using four different metaheuristic optimization algorithms.

Approximate State–Space and Transfer Function Models for 2×2 Linear Hyperbolic Systems with Collocated Boundary Inputs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2020
Two approximate representations are proposed for distributed parameter systems described by two linear hyperbolic PDEs with two time- and space-dependent state variables and two collocated boundary inputs.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Nearly Free Molecular Heat Transfer from a Sphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Consider a sphere immersed in a rarefied monatomic gas with zero mean flow. The distribution function of the molecules at infinity is chosen to be a Maxwellian. The boundary condition at the body is diffuse reflection with perfect accommodation to the

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Meta-Regression and Benefit Transfer: Data Space, Model Space, and the Quest for ‘Optimal Scope’ [PDF]

open access: yes
Meta-functional Benefit Transfer, while conceptually attractive, is often plagued by the paucity of available source studies and related small sample problems. A broadening of scope of the Meta-Regression Model by adding data from “related, yet different”

Analysis of voltage effect on holographic gratings by modulation transfer function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The experimental data allow us to determine the imaging quality of holographic gratings with photosensitive film using organic material based on a polyvinyl alcohol matrix doped with potassium dichromate and nickel (II) chloride hexahydrate.

Evolution of substrate specificity in a recipient's enzyme following horizontal gene transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Despite the prominent role of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in shaping bacterial metabolism, little is known about the impact of HGT on the evolution of enzyme function.
