Between Droughts and Floods: The Seasonal Response of Freshwater Snails in Artificial Reservoirs in the Brazilian Semiarid Region

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We investigate the seasonal dynamics of two freshwater snails, Biomphalaria straminea and Melanoides tuberculata, in artificial reservoirs of the Brazilian semiarid region. Despite regulated hydrology, B. straminea exhibited strong seasonal fluctuations associated with dry periods, while M. tuberculata maintained stable populations throughout the year,

Car body elastic vibration control in EMUs based on modal contribution

open access: yes机车电传动, 2022
The lightweight design of the car body structure in EMUs leads to an increase in structural flexibility, and with the increase in the operating mileage and the deterioration of wheel-rail wear, the car body suffers from worsening abnormal elastic ...

An Adaptive Management Model for Brown Bears in Hokkaido: Based on Total Population and the Number of Nuisance Bears

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Bear management changes management actions according to the horizontal axis of the population size and the vertical axis of the number of nuisance bears. Aiming for the target population size of Ntar, Actions I and II protect the bears, and Action IV reduces the population.

Pavement Condition Index Model for Mechanistic–Empirical Design of Airport Concrete Pavements Considering Environmental Effects

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
A transfer function is the main model of a design program that correlates mechanistically calculated damage to a pavement with the actual field distress.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Low-Power Voltage Transformer Smart Frequency Modeling and Output Prediction up to 2.5 kHz, Using Sinc-Response Approach

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The instrument transformers scenario is moving towards the adoption of a new generation of low-power instrument transformers. This disruptive change also requires that the modeling, characterization, and testing of those devices must be improved ...

Binary Bamboo Forest Growth Optimization Algorithm for Feature Selection Problem

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Inspired by the bamboo growth process, Chu et al. proposed the Bamboo Forest Growth Optimization (BFGO) algorithm. It incorporates bamboo whip extension and bamboo shoot growth into the optimization process.

A Bode Sensitivity Integral for Linear Time-Periodic Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Bode's sensitivity integral is a well-known formula that quantifies some of the limitations in feedback control for linear time-invariant systems. In this note, we show that there is a similar formula for linear time-periodic systems.

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.
