一定の塩基配列で規定される転移リボ核酸(tRNA)は鎖内部での特異的塩基対形成によってクローバー葉形の二次構造をとる。三次元的にはクローバー葉構造が折りたたまれて高次構造を形成するが,その存在は主として熱変性過程の研究から明らかになった。t RNAのコンホメーションの安定化には陽イオン,とりわけ二価金属イオンが大きな効果を示す。Mg++,Mn++,Co++などはtRNAに約20~30個特異的に結合し,その会合定数は103~104の大きさである。ある種のtRNAには生物活性形と変性形が見出され,相互変換には二価イオンが決定的な役割を果す。活性形は約2~3個の二価イオン部位をよけいにもち,変換にはリン酸基の中和を伴うコンホメーション変化が起こると考えられる ...
