FinBERT: A Large Language Model for Extracting Information from Financial Text*

open access: yesContemporary Accounting Research, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 806-841, Summer 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT We develop FinBERT, a state‐of‐the‐art large language model that adapts to the finance domain. We show that FinBERT incorporates finance knowledge and can better summarize contextual information in financial texts. Using a sample of researcher‐labeled sentences from analyst reports, we document that FinBERT substantially outperforms the ...

Information about Climate Change Mitigation: What Do Farmers Think? Informations sur l'atténuation du changement climatique : qu'en pensent les agriculteurs? Informationen zum Klimaschutz: Was denken die Landwirtinnen und Landwirte?

open access: yesEuroChoices, Volume 22, Issue 1, Page 74-80, April 2023., 2023
Summary The adoption of new practices by farmers is one of the key strategies to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from food production. In this context, effective knowledge transfer systems are essential to inform farmers about climate change, and to convince them of the benefits of new technologies. In this article, farmers’ opinions about climate

Tens of thousands of migrating hoverflies found dead on a strandline in the South of France Des dizaines de milliers de syrphes migrateurs retrouvés morts sur une plage du sud de la France

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 16, Issue 2, Page 306-312, March 2023., 2023
A high number of insects were found dead on a beach in the South of France. We suspect strong winds or a localised storm were at the origin of their stranding. All dead species recorded are known for their migratory behaviour and hoverflies made up about 77% of the dead insects.

A systematic map of knowledge exchange across the science‐policy interface for forest science: How can we improve consistency and effectiveness?

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 4, Issue 1, January–March 2023., 2023
A new systematic map of literature about knowledge exchange in forest science finds a muddy landscape of competing terminology and lack evidence of the effectiveness of knowledge exchange techniques. We map the field and the types of knowledge exchange used as well as its enabling conditions and barriers. We suggest a common approach and terminology to

Evidence‐Informed Audit Standard Setting: Exploring Evidence Use and Knowledge Transfer*

open access: yesContemporary Accounting Research, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 2243-2283, Winter 2022., 2022
ABSTRACT Academics and practitioners agree that there are substantial barriers to systematically transferring audit research knowledge to policy‐makers. We adopt a design science approach to investigate the efficacy of employing a research synthesis, embedded in an interactive process with audit standard setters, to transfer such knowledge. We identify

An automatic workflow for orientation of historical images with large radiometric and geometric differences

open access: yesThe Photogrammetric Record, Volume 36, Issue 174, Page 77-103, June 2021., 2021
A workflow is proposed for a completely automatic orientation of historical terrestrial urban images. For such images, automatic SfM packages often fail due to large radiometric and geometric differences causing challenges with feature extraction and reliable matching.
