Association between the school physical activity environment, measured and self-reported student physical activity and active transport behaviours in Victoria, Australia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, 2021
Background Environments within schools including the physical, social-cultural and policy/practice environments have the potential to influence children’s physical activity (PA) behaviours and weight status.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Correlation between the triglyceride-glucose index and left ventricular global longitudinal strain in patients with chronic heart failure: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Background Left ventricular global longitudinal strain (GLS) holds greater diagnostic and prognostic value than left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in the heart failure (HF) patients.

Neutrophil membrane engineered HucMSC sEVs alleviate cisplatin-induced AKI by enhancing cellular uptake and targeting

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology, 2022
Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells-derived small extracellular vesicles (hucMSC-sEVs) have been demonstrated as a therapeutic agent to prevent and treat cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI).

Appropriation and Transformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The recent decision in Cariou v. Prince has reinvigorated a pressing issue for the contemporary movement of appropriation art: how can art which is defined by its taking from other artworks hope to survive in the world of copyright?

Quantum Canonical Transformations: Physical Equivalence of Quantum Theories

open access: yes, 1993
Two quantum theories are physically equivalent if they are related, not by a unitary transformation, but by an isometric transformation. The conditions under which a quantum canonical transformation is an isometric transformation are given.Comment: 11 ...

Transforming vaccinology

open access: yesCell
The COVID-19 pandemic placed the field of vaccinology squarely at the center of global consciousness, emphasizing the vital role of vaccines as transformative public health tools. The impact of vaccines was recently acknowledged by the award of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman for their seminal ...

Appell Transformation and Canonical Transforms [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2011
The interpretation of the optical Appell transformation, as previously elaborated in relation to the free-space paraxial propagation under both a rectangular and a circular cylindrical symmetry, is reviewed. Then, the caloric Appell transformation, well known in the theory of heat equation, is shown to be amenable for a similar interpretation involving

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.
