The interplay of dissolution, solution crystallization and solid-state transformation of amorphous indomethacin in aqueous solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmaceutics: X, 2020
Supersaturation profiles of amorphous indomethacin in aqueous solution containing 0.4 wt% and 4 wt% of isopropanol were predicted by combining separately-determined kinetics for dissolution, solution crystallization, and solid-state transformation.

Kinetics of Integration of Transforming DNA in Pneumococcus [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1972
Integration of donor genes, as measured by recovery of their transforming activity from eclipse in lysates of newly transformed cells of pneumococcus, has been followed at temperatures from 0 to 40°. There is a lag in the recovery curve that is marker-dependent and increases as temperature falls.

Deformation-assisted diffusion for the enhanced kinetics of dynamic phase transformation

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2018
Comparison on the kinetics of two different phase transformations, including phase transformation after deformation and phase transformation during deformation (i.e.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Quench Sensitivity and Phase Transformation Kinetics of AlSi7MnMg High Pressure Vacuum Die Casting [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
The quench sensitivity of an AlSi7MnMg alloy in high-pressure vacuum die (HPVD) casting was investigated by time-temperature-transformation and time-temperature-property diagrams with an interrupted quench technique.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Kinetic models of multiple-stage martensite transformation and subsequent isothermal bainite formation excluding ε-carbide precipitation in intercritical quenching and partitioning steels

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
The kinetic models of multiple-stage martensite transformation and subsequent isothermal bainite formation were investigated in intercritical quenching and partitioning steels. The modified K-M model that considering instantaneous kinetic characteristics

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
