Transformerless Single Phase Inverter Design for LCD Television

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2007
A LCD (liquid crystal display) has the CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) for backlight illumination. The CCFL is fed at high voltage and high frequency voltage by an inverter in the LCD TVs. The backlight unit consumes almost %40 of input power.

A New Transformerless Configuration for Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Inverters

2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2019
Due to high efficiency, low cost and weight, transformerless inverters are widely used to deliver the photovoltaic (PV) energy to the grid. On the other hand, due to VDE standards, the leakage current between the stray capacitance of the PV array and the ground should be limited for the grid connected PV systems.

Transformerless Single-Phase Multilevel-Based Photovoltaic Inverter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2008
The elimination of the output transformer from grid- connected photovoltaic (PV) systems not only reduces the cost, size, and weight of the conversion stage but also increases the system overall efficiency. However, if the transformer is removed, the galvanic isolation between the PV generator and the grid is lost.

Transformerless series sag compensation with a cascaded multilevel inverter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2002
The use of a cascaded multilevel inverter for transformerless sag/dip compensation is investigated. This topology is investigated as a cost-effective means for series sag compensation by eliminating the large injection transformer and output filter components that are used in conventional series injection devices.

Leakage current measurement in transformerless PV inverters

2012 13th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM), 2012
Photovoltaic (PV) installations have seen a huge increase during the last couple of years. Transformerless PV inverters are gaining more share of the total inverter market, due to their high conversion efficiency, small weight and size. Nevertheless safety should have an important role in case of these tranformerless systems, due to the missing ...

Transformerless Inverters and RCD: What's the Problem?

2010
Considering the structure of PV systems, a stray capacitance can appear between the PV arrays and the ground. When transformerless inverters are used, this capacitance can cause leakage currents to the ground. According to the French standards, a Residual-Current Device (RCD) has to be installed at the AC side of the PV installation, for the protection

Comparison of parameter and efficiency of transformerless inverter topologies

2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE), 2015
Usage of renewable energy is rapidly growing in last times. Photovoltaic energy has a big potential to supply the households in the near future. Small photovoltaic power systems are being developed in last years. Many issues are connected with this type power system.

Transformerless Inverter for Single-Phase Photovoltaic Systems

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2007
When no transformer is used in a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system, a galvanic connection between the grid and the PV array exists. In these conditions, dangerous leakage currents (common-mode currents) can appear through the stray capacitance between the PV array and the ground.

Single-phase three-wire transformerless inverter

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 1994
A single-phase inverter providing three wire two-voltage (generally 110/220 V) power is designed and implemented. Instead of using a full-bridge inverter and an output transformer with centre-tapped winding, a three-leg inverter is used to yield a single-phase three-wire circuit.

Power capacity enhancement of transformerless photovoltaic inverter

2013 IEEE 7th International Power Engineering and Optimization Conference (PEOCO), 2013
A conventional inverter uses a transformer. Some transformers connected in parallel are needed to obtain a high power inverter. They cause the inverter has a big in size, expensive cost and low efficiency. To solve the problem, a transformerless photovoltaic inverter (TPVI) is suitable to be applied. This paper proposes a paralleled full bridge circuit
