Transient Epileptic Amnesia

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Neurology, 2010
Case reports over the past 100 years have raised the possibility that epilepsy can manifest itself in episodes of amnesia. Recent research has established that this is indeed the case, and indicates that characteristic varieties of interictal memory disturbance co-occur with this form of epilepsy.Transient epileptic amnesia is a distinctive syndrome of

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Long Chaotic Transients in Complex Networks

open access: yes, 2004
We show that long chaotic transients dominate the dynamics of randomly diluted networks of pulse-coupled oscillators. This contrasts with the rapid convergence towards limit cycle attractors found in networks of globally coupled units. The lengths of the

Effect of mass concentration and apparent morphology of coal particle on the detonation onset of coal/ethylene/oxygen mixture

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
In order to realize the reliable ignition of coal particle continuous rotating detonation engine, this study investigated the influence mechanism of coal particle concentration and apparent morphology on the initiation characteristics of coal/ethylene ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Star-Forming Regions near GRB 990123 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We reduced the Hubble Space Telescope Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph images of the gamma-ray burst GRB 990123 that were obtained on 8-9 February 1999 and find V_0 = 25.36 +/- 0.10, which corresponds to a flux of 0.258 +/- 0.023 micro-Jy for the ...

What drives transient behaviour in complex systems?

open access: yes, 2017
We study transient behaviour in the dynamics of complex systems described by a set of non-linear ODE's. Destabilizing nature of transient trajectories is discussed and its connection with the eigenvalue-based linearization procedure.

Method of ballistic control and projectile rotation in a novel railgun

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2018
In order to realize the ballistic control of the railgun and the flight stability of the projectile, a new type of railgun is designed, which can control the muzzle velocity and rotation rate.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
