Transient-stability studies of d.w.r. synchronous generator

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1971
Some transient-stability studies of a divided-winding-rotor (d.w.r.) synchronous generator equipped with regulators for controlling the voltage, torque angle and speed are described. It has been observed that the machine is quite capable of withstanding severe forms of load shedding, and that the angle regulator is quite effective in checking the ...

Transient voltage stability enhancement using Static Synchronous Compensator

2014 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE), 2014
This Paper analyzes the application of Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) to prevent the transient voltage instability of power systems due to the presence of large induction motor loads at the terminals of long transmission lines. The analysis is supported by transient time simulations for the complete power system following large disturbances ...

Optimal Quasi-Synchronous Compensator Dispatch for Transient Voltage Stability

2018 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2018
The quasi-synchronous compensator is a type of synchronous generator, which can work in a low loading factor and provide reactive power support to power system. For the enhancement of transient voltage stability, this paper proposes an optimal dispatch method by regulating those quasi-synchronous compensators.

Electronic-analogue-computer study of synchronous-machine transient stability

Proceedings of the IEE Part A: Power Engineering, 1957
The paper describes a method of solution of synchronous-machine transient-stability problems by a more exact electronic analogue representation of the system equations than has hitherto been employed. In the machine analysis emphasis is placed on the variation of field flux linkage during transient disturbances, and reasons are given why this is ...

Emergency control scheme for transient stability using synchronized measurement

11th IET International Conference on Developments in Power Systems Protection (DPSP 2012), 2012
A single-machine-equivalent (SIME) based emergency control (EC) scheme that incorporates synchronized measurements is described in the paper. This EC scheme resolves the transient stability problems experienced when serious disturbance occurs on critical transmission lines.

Equation-based Modeling of Synchronous Machines for Transient Stability Studies

2022 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT), 2022
This paper discusses modelling details of synchronous machines based on their description in terms of equations through the Modelica language and Modelica-based PowerGrids library. Synchronous machine modelling is well established in plenty of research and PowerGrids library has been designed prior to this paper.

Transient Angle Stability of Paralleled Synchronous and Virtual Synchronous Generators in Islanded Microgrids

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2020
With the development of virtual synchronous generator (VSG) techniques, parallel operations of synchronous generators (SGs) and VSGs become increasingly common in a microgrid. The differences between paralleled systems will affect the transient stability of the system, which probably threatens stable operation of the system, especially under fault ...

Effect of Clearing Time on Synchronous Machine Transient Stability

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Part III: Power Apparatus and Systems, 1957
The paper is concerned with the effect of clearing time on the transient stability of a 2-machine system. An equivalent electronic analog interconnection for the equations of the system is used for the solution of the problem. The analog is based on a modified form of Park's equations and it allows for the variation of field flux linkage with time ...

Transient stability region of synchronous generator with saturable exciter

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1978
A method is described for estimating the critical clearing time for a single-machine infinite-busbar power system where the generator is fitted with a saturable voltage regulator. The method is similar to Lyapunov's direct method, in that integration of the postfault swing equations is dispensed with.
