Supporting transient stability in future highly distributed power systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Incorporating a substantial volume of microgeneration (consumer-led rather than centrally planed) within a system that is not designed for such a paradigm could lead to conflicts in the operating strategies of the new and existing centralised generation ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

An adaptive synchronous loop phase compensation method for enhancing grid-forming transient stability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
While virtual inductance in grid-forming control effectively reduces inrush current, it negatively impacts transient stability. This study proposes a synchronous loop control strategy incorporating an adaptive adjustment mechanism to improve power angle ...

Reactive Power Optimization for Transient Voltage Stability in Energy Internet via Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The existence of high proportional distributed energy resources in energy Internet (EI) scenarios has a strong impact on the power supply-demand balance of the EI system.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

MIS capacitor studies on silicon carbide single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes
Cubic SIC metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) capacitors with thermally grown or chemical-vapor-deposited (CVD) insulators were characterized by capacitance-voltage (C-V), conductance-voltage (G-V), and current-voltage (I-V) measurements.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Transient voltage stability assessment based on zoned and classified dynamic reactive power reserve in power systems

open access: yesZhejiang dianli
Transient voltage stability has become a critical challenge in power systems with high penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). Assessing transient voltage stability from a reactive power perspective provides insights into the system’s reactive ...
