Systematics of the Third Row Transition Metal Melting: The HCP Metals Rhenium and Osmium
The melting curves of rhenium and osmium to megabar pressures are obtained from an extensive suite of ab initio quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) simulations using the Z method.

Topological transitions in metals
We investigate if a sharp topological transition in a metal with a large Fermi surface may be detected in transport measurements. In particular, we address if a skew scattering and a side jump on elastic disorder in the bulk of such a metal masks signatures of the topological transition.

Magnetic anisotropy of graphene quantum dots decorated with a ruthenium adatom
The creation of magnetic storage devices by decoration of a graphene sheet by magnetic transition-metal adatoms, utilizing the high in-plane versus out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE), has recently been proposed. This concept is extended in our

Approximating metal–insulator transitions [PDF]
We consider quantum wave propagation in one-dimensional quasiperiodic lattices. We propose an iterative construction of quasiperiodic potentials from sequences of potentials with increasing spatial period. At each finite iteration step, the eigenstates reflect the properties of the limiting quasiperiodic potential properties up to a controlled maximum

METAL-NON METAL TRANSITIONS IN TRANSITION METAL COMPOUNDS.THE ELECTRONIC PHASE TRANSITIONS IN FeS AND NiS [PDF]
FeS and NiS show first order phase transitions with a change in electronic structure at Ta = 415 K and Tt = 265 K respectively, the latter depending sensitively on non-stoichiometry in the form of nickel vacancies. Extensive experimental data on NiS is reviewed which shows that the low-temperature phase is a semimetallic itinerant-electron ...

METAL-INSULATOR TRANSITIONS IN TRANSITION METAL OXIDES
There is a transition from band insulator to metal to Mott insulator with increasing number of d electrons in the transition metal oxides. In the (V1-xCrx)2O3 system a Mott transition occurs near x = 0.01. At high temperatures V2O3 and (V.99Cr.01)2 O3 are found to have similar resistivities and temperature coefficients of resistivity.

Photochemistry of Transition Metal Hydrides [PDF]
Photochemical reactivity associated with metal-hydrogen bonds is widespread among metal hydride complexes and has played a critical part in opening up C-H bond activation. It has been exploited to design different types of photocatalytic reactions and to obtain NMR spectra of dilute solutions with a single pulse of an NMR spectrometer.

Crystal structure of bis(azido-κN)bis[2,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole-κ2N2,N3]cobalt(II)
In the mononuclear title complex, [Co(N3)2(C12H8N4S)2], the cobalt(II) atom is located on an inversion centre and displays an axially weakly compressed octahedral coordination geometry.
