Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Potentiometric and conductometric studies of malonyl bis(salicyloylhydrazone) and divalent metal complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A series of complexes of divalent transition metal ions with malonyl bis(salicyloylhydrazone) (H4MSH) have been prepared and characterized with the help of conductometric, potentiometric methods.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Pyridine: A Useful Ligand in Transition Metal Complexes

open access: yesPyridine, 2018
Pyridine (C 5 H 5 N) is being the simplest six-membered heterocycles, closely resembles its structure to benzene. The “N” in benzene ring has its high electronegativity influence on resonance environment and produces markedly different chemistry from its

Mesomorphism and Photophysics of Some Metallomesogens Based on Hexasubstituted 2,2':6', 2''-Terpyridines : 6', 2''-Terpyridines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The luminescent and mesomorphic properties of a series of metal complexes based on hexacatenar 2,2':6',2''-terpyridines are investigated using experimental methods and density functional theory (DFT). Two types of ligand are examined, namely 5,5''-di(3,4,

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Studies on Transition Metal-Quercetin Complexes Using Electrospray Ionization Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
To systematically study the effects of the number of d electrons of the first transition metal ions (Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) on the formation and stability of metal flavonoid complexes, we took the quercetin/M2+ complex as a model system to investigate ...

Electron Redistribution of Aromatic Ligands in (Arene)Cr(CO)\u3csub\u3e3\u3c/sub\u3e Complexes. Structural (Bond-Length) Changes as Quantitative Measures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Arene ligands experience significant ring expansion upon coordination with chromium tricarbonyl, as established by precise X-ray crystallographic analyses of various (η6-arene)Cr(CO)3 complexes.
