Transition metal-like carbocatalyst [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
AbstractCatalytic cleavage of strong bonds including hydrogen-hydrogen, carbon-oxygen, and carbon-hydrogen bonds is a highly desired yet challenging fundamental transformation for the production of chemicals and fuels. Transition metal-containing catalysts are employed, although accompanied with poor selectivity in hydrotreatment.

Principles Determining the Structure of Transition Metals

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
For the better part of a century researchers across disciplines have sought to explain the crystallography of the elemental transition metals: hexagonal close packed, body centered cubic, and face centered cubic in a form similar to that used to ...

Transition metal alloying effect on the phosphoric acid adsorption strength of Pt nanoparticles: an experimental and density functional theory study

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The effect of alloying with transition metals (Ni, Co, Fe) on the adsorption strength of phosphoric acid on Pt alloy surfaces was investigated using electrochemical analysis and first-principles calculations. Cyclic voltammograms of carbon-supported Pt3M/

METAL-INSULATOR TRANSITIONS IN TRANSITION METAL OXIDES

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1971
There is a transition from band insulator to metal to Mott insulator with increasing number of d electrons in the transition metal oxides. In the (V1-xCrx)2O3 system a Mott transition occurs near x = 0.01. At high temperatures V2O3 and (V.99Cr.01)2 O3 are found to have similar resistivities and temperature coefficients of resistivity.

Additive manufacturing of bimetallic structures

open access: yesSN Applied Sciences, 2020
Metals of 12Cr2Si and 9Cr1Mo are investigated with femtosecond fiber laser additive manufacturing. A smooth phase transition is found at the interface of the two gradated composition metals, indicating a strong bonding.

A P-type ATPase importer that discriminates between essential and toxic transition metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Transition metals, although being essential cofactors in many physiological processes, are toxic at elevated concentrations. Among the membrane-embedded transport proteins that maintain appropriate intracellular levels of transition metals are ATP-driven
