Approximating metal–insulator transitions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2015
We consider quantum wave propagation in one-dimensional quasiperiodic lattices. We propose an iterative construction of quasiperiodic potentials from sequences of potentials with increasing spatial period. At each finite iteration step, the eigenstates reflect the properties of the limiting quasiperiodic potential properties up to a controlled maximum

Nitride tuning of transition metal perovskites

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2020
Transition metal perovskite oxynitrides are emergent materials for applications as visible light-active photocatalysts for water splitting and CO2 reduction and as thermoelectric, dielectric, and magnetic materials.

Molecular Orbital Calculation of Lead-Free Perovskite Compounds for Efficient Use of Alkaline and Alkaline Earth Metals

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
The effective ionic charges of lead-free perovskite dielectric complex compounds were investigated with molecular orbital calculation. The base model was a double perovskite cluster that consisted of octahedral oxygen cages with a transition metal ion of

METAL-NON METAL TRANSITIONS IN TRANSITION METAL COMPOUNDS.THE ELECTRONIC PHASE TRANSITIONS IN FeS AND NiS [PDF]

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1976
FeS and NiS show first order phase transitions with a change in electronic structure at Ta = 415 K and Tt = 265 K respectively, the latter depending sensitively on non-stoichiometry in the form of nickel vacancies. Extensive experimental data on NiS is reviewed which shows that the low-temperature phase is a semimetallic itinerant-electron ...

Manganese acquisition and homeostasis at the host-pathogen interface

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2013
Pathogenic bacteria acquire transition metals for cell viability and persistence of infection in competition with host nutritional defenses. The human host employs a variety of mechanisms to stress the invading pathogen with both cytotoxic metal ions ...

METAL-INSULATOR TRANSITIONS IN TRANSITION METAL OXIDES

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1971
There is a transition from band insulator to metal to Mott insulator with increasing number of d electrons in the transition metal oxides. In the (V1-xCrx)2O3 system a Mott transition occurs near x = 0.01. At high temperatures V2O3 and (V.99Cr.01)2 O3 are found to have similar resistivities and temperature coefficients of resistivity.

Photochemistry of Transition Metal Hydrides [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Reviews, 2016
Photochemical reactivity associated with metal-hydrogen bonds is widespread among metal hydride complexes and has played a critical part in opening up C-H bond activation. It has been exploited to design different types of photocatalytic reactions and to obtain NMR spectra of dilute solutions with a single pulse of an NMR spectrometer.
