Critical behavior of a traffic flow model

open access: yes, 1998
The Nagel-Schreckenberg traffic flow model shows a transition from a free flow regime to a jammed regime for increasing car density. The measurement of the dynamical structure factor offers the chance to observe the evolution of jams without the ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Uma Sistematização de Variáveis relacionando transição de Regime Político e Política Externa: comparando as redemocratizações argentina e brasileira | A Systematization of Variables connecting Regime Transition and Foreign Policy: comparing the democratization processes in Argentina and Brazil

open access: yesMural Internacional, 2022
Neste artigo, relacionamos Transição de Regime Político & Política Externa, realizando um estudo de caso comparado acerca das redemocratizações argentina e brasileira, no marco temporal de 1979 a 1990.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Dynamic Effects of Crude Oil Price Movements: a Sectoral Examination [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Economic Journal, 2019
The study employs the Markov switching regression to examine the dynamic effects of crude oil price movements on sector returns in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China and India given the impact of the global factor. The evidence from the Markov

Evolutionary regime transitions in structured populations

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2018
The evolutionary dynamics of a finite population where resident individuals are replaced by mutant ones depends on its spatial structure. Usually, the population adopts the form of an undirected graph where the place occupied by each individual is represented by a vertex and it is bidirectionally linked to the places that can be occupied by its ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Strong enhancement of drag and dissipation at the weak- to strong- coupling phase transition in a bi-layer system at a total Landau level filling nu=1

open access: yes, 2001
We consider a bi-layer electronic system at a total Landau level filling factor nu =1, and focus on the transition from the regime of weak inter-layer coupling to that of the strongly coupled (1,1,1) phase (or ''quantum Hall ferromagnet'').

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
