Construction of a hierarchical translation memory [PDF]
Translation memories are promising devices for automatic translation. Their main weakness, however, is poor coverage on unseen text. In this paper, the use of a hierarchical translation memory, consisting of a cascade of finite state transducers, is proposed.

ABSTRACT Background Latino children are projected to make up nearly one‐third of United States (US) children by 2060, and many of their caregivers speak Spanish. Prior survey research has documented communication difficulties for Spanish‐speaking caregivers of children with cancer, but contemporary qualitative data are limited.

ABSTRACT Background Young adult childhood cancer survivors (YA‐CCS) have an increased risk of treatment‐related health complications throughout their lives. Lifelong survivorship care is recommended, yet many YA‐CCS experience disruptions in care during pediatric‐to‐adult transitions and do not receive recommended survivorship care.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Toward memory-based translation [PDF]
An essential problem of example-based translation is how to utilize more than one translation example for translating one source sentence. This paper proposes a method to solve this problem. We introduce the representation, called matching expression, which represents the combination of fragments of translation examples. The translation process consists

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.
