Die Arbeitsgedächtniskapazität in der Dolmetschausbildung: Implikationen für die Didaktik [PDF]

open access: yesStudia Translatorica
The aim of the present empirical study was to test whether the working memory capacity of interpreting and translation students differs, in order to shed light on the role of working memory capacity in interpreter education. Six interpreting students and

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Gáttehis gáddi – strandless shores: Translation as witnessing in the Sàmi novel Far inte till havet

open access: yesRes Rhetorica
Translation is a form of “working through”, in which translators negotiate cultural memory rather than merely transferring words. Like Sámi duodji, they act as “weavers of words,” intertwining linguistic, historical, and emotional threads to preserve ...

La traduction spécialisée à l’ère des nouvelles technologies : quel effet sur le texte de spécialité?

open access: yesStudia Romanica Posnaniensia, 2016
The introduction of translation technologies, especially translation memory software, has had a significant impact on both the translator’s professional practice and the target text itself.

Neural Machine Translation via Binary Code Prediction

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we propose a new method for calculating the output layer in neural machine translation systems. The method is based on predicting a binary code for each word and can reduce computation time/memory requirements of the output layer to be ...

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Long term memories: Trados and TM turn 20

open access: yesJoSTrans: The Journal of Specialised Translation, 2005
During the nineties, translation memory (TM) technology revolutionised the way corporations and translators handled specialised text. Last year, 2004, the TM industry leader and de facto standard Trados turned 20.
