A Drone Based Transmission Line Components Inspection System with Deep Learning Technique [PDF]
Defects in high voltage transmission line components such as cracked insulators, broken wires rope, and corroded power line joints, are very common due to continuous exposure of these components to harsh environmental conditions.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Application of knowledge-based fuzzy inference system on high voltage transmission line maintenance [PDF]
A majority of utilities conduct maintenance of transmission line components based on the results of routine visual inspection. The inspection is normally done by inspectors who detect defects by visually checking transmission line components either from ...

Solution‐processed Cu(bdc) forms prototypical MOF thin films for which a multitude of not fully satisfactory structural models have been suggested. Combining rotating grazing‐incidence diffraction and X‐ray reflectivity on two complementary samples with density‐functional theory, we first discard the previously suggested models and then identify a non ...

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...
