Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Selective measurement of aromatic hydrocarbons in water by use of UV derivative spectroscopy
S.12-18Conclusions The feasibility of UV Derivative Spectroscopy for measuring aromatic hydrocarbons such as BTEX solved in water is demonstrated. The new optical derivative routine is shown to be superior to conventional transmission spectroscopy.11Nr.

The Influence of Physiological Status on Age Prediction of Anopheles Arabiensis using Near Infra-red Spectroscopy [PDF]
Determining the age of malaria vectors is essential for evaluating the impact of interventions that reduce the survival of wild mosquito populations and for estimating changes in vectorial capacity.

Heterodyne photoacoustic gas sensing with real-time resonance tracking in high-Q resonators
High quality-factor (High-Q) photoacoustic (PA) resonators are widely recognized for their superior signal enhancement in trace gas sensing; however, their practical deployment is fundamentally limited by extreme sensitivity of the resonance frequency ...

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...
