A Systematic Approach for Determining Transmitarray Specifications in Near‐Field Scenarios

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents a design methodology of transmitarrays for near‐field wavefront shaping. Unlike conventional methods that rely on trial and error or optimisation procedures, this approach establishes practical relationships to determine transmitarray specifications.

Low‐Cost 2‐D Multibeam Transmitarray With Enhanced Beam Coverage Using Sliding Effective Aperture

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This letter proposes a low‐cost 2‐D multibeam transmitarray (TA) using the method of sliding effective aperture. By sliding the feeding source, the effective aperture slides accordingly. Different sources represent producing different equiphase planes and thus achieving multiple beams.

A Compact Phase‐Modulated Transmissive Metasurface Convergence Lens for OAM Antenna

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The system integrates a compact circular ring phased array antenna (CRPAA) operating in the X‐band to generate OAM beams and an metasurfaces lens designed using an optical converging axicon theory. When placed 60 mm (2λ₀) from the CRPAA, the MS lens significantly reduces the divergence angle of the OAM beam (mode l = −2) from 72° to 30° and increases ...

A Wideband High‐Efficiency Compact All‐Metal Folded Transmitarray With Integrated Planar Feed

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
A wideband high‐efficiency compact all‐metal folded transmitarray antenna (CAMFTA) with integrated planar feed is proposed in this paper. It consists of a transmission metasurface (TMS) with the function of reflecting y‐polarised wave, as well as transmitting x‐polarised wave and twisting its polarisation by 90°, a linear polarisation conversion ...

A Wideband Multibeam Transmitarray Antenna Based on 3‐D FSS

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents a novel method for designing a wideband dual‐polarised multibeam transmitarray antenna. Through numerical calculations, simulations and measurements, the TA demonstrates outstanding multibeam radiation characteristics. ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel method for designing a wideband dual‐polarised multibeam transmitarray antenna.

Broadband Metasurface Antenna Optimized for High‐Frequency Radiation Patterns Using Characteristic Mode Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The radiation pattern of the broadband metasurface (MTS) antenna often has large sidelobe and large H‐plane cross‐polarization (cross‐pol) at high frequencies because both the fundamental mode and the higher order modes (HOMs) have large sidelobe at these frequencies. However, as for the above two reasons that leading to deterioration of high‐frequency
