Crystallization Behavior of a New Transparent Glass-Ceramics

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
In this article we present a new kind of large grain transparent glass-ceramics obtained by the method of crystal growth from a homogenous glass, the simultaneous variation of the glass matrix and crystalline compositions during the crystallization results in the high transparency of this kind of large grain, high crystalline volume glass-ceramics ...

Transparent glass ceramics: Preparation, characterization and properties

Materials Science and Engineering, 1985
Abstract Transparent glass ceramics were prepared in the system Li2OAl2O3SiO2, MgOAl2O3SiO2 and ZnOAl2O3SiO2 using TiO2, ZrO2 and P2O5 as nucleators. The major crystalline phases in these samples were spinel, gahnite, s-quartz solid solutions and a petalite-like phase.

Structural characterisation of transparent oxyfluoride glass-ceramics

Journal of Materials Science, 2000
Erbium doped transparent glass-ceramics were obtained in the family (50GeO2[50−y]PbO, yPbF2+xErF3). With controlled crystallisation of glasses by inhomogeneous nucleation and growth during reheating, PbF2 crystallites of nanometric size and a filling factor of 10−2 were obtained.

Ca2GeO4:Cr4+ transparent nano-glass ceramics

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2017
Abstract The purpose of this study was to find out glass compositions permitting to obtain glass-ceramics of the Cr4 +:Ca2GeO4 nanophase with a proper condition of syntheses and satisfying the requirements for transparent glass-ceramic. Three series of glass compositions were investigated, containing CaO, GeO2 and the glass formers: CaO-GeO2-B2O3 ...

Preparation of transparent lithium-mica glass-ceramics

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2006
Abstract In order to fabricate transparent and machinable mica-type glass-ceramics, parent glasses having chemical compositions corresponding to Li (1+ x ) Mg 3 AlSi 3(1+ x ) O 10+6.5 x F 2 ( x  = 0.15, 0.5, 0.65, 1.0 and 1.2) were crystallized. Lithium-micas were precipitated in all the specimens as the main crystal at 650 °C though the content ...

Pyroelectric Response in Transparent Ferroelectric Glass‐Ceramics

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1975
When the network system is limited, most ferroelectric glass‐ceramics will produce a fully crystallized transparent body when cerammed at low temperatures. Higher‐temperature heat treatment results in crystal growth and gradual loss of transparency. In the transparent state, the crystal size is limited to ∼2000 Å.

Transparent heavy metal fluoride glass-ceramic

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1995
Abstract A CdF 2 LiFAlF 3 PbF 2 (CLAP) glass was doped with ZrF 4 and crystallized using a controlled heat treatment. The heat treatment resulted in the formation of a glass-ceramic which is > 95% crystalline and transparent (> 80%) from the visible (∼ 400 nm) to the mid-IR (> 7 μm).

Luminescence of Er3+ in Oxyfluoride Transparent Glass-Ceramics

Journal of Rare Earths, 2006
Abstract Erbium doped silicate, germanate, and tellurium-germanate oxyfluoride glasses were prepared in a bulk form. Through appropriate heat treatment of the as-prepared glasses, transparent glass-ceramics (TGCs) were obtained with the formation of β-PbF 2 : Er 3+ nanocrystals in the glass matrix were confirmed by X-ray diffraction.

Near-infrared quantum cutting in transparent nanostructured glass ceramics

Optics Letters, 2008
Quantum cutting downconversion involving the emission of two near-infrared photons for each blue photon absorbed is realized in transparent glass ceramics with embedded Pr3+/Yb3+: beta-YF3 nanocrystals. On excitation of Pr3+ ions with a visible photon at 482 nm, Yb3+ ions emit two near-infrared photons at 976 nm through an efficient cooperative energy ...
