Hospital-Acquired Conditions after Liver Transplantation

The American Surgeonā„¢, 2020
Hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) are used to define hospital performance measures. Patient comorbidity may influence HAC development. The National Inpatient Sample database was used to investigate HACs for the patients who underwent liver transplantation. Multivariate analysis was used to identify HAC risk factors.

Pediatric lung transplant: Correlation of pretransplant condition with post‐transplant outcomes

Pediatric Transplantation, 2020
AbstractBackgroundIt is generally accepted that patients who have greater functional capacity are better candidates for lung transplantation. Accurate assessment of physical condition is important in identifying appropriate candidates for transplant. The focus of this study was to determine which measures of pretransplant physical condition correlate ...

[Transplant conditioning revisited].

[Rinsho ketsueki] The Japanese journal of clinical hematology, 2021
Treatment of acute leukemia has evolved rapidly over the past 10 years. Moreover, the role of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in such treatments has been changing. With the refinement of molecular-targeted therapy and other new modalities, HSCT is no longer the only curative option for leukemia.

Radionuclides as conditioning before stem cell transplantation

Current Opinion in Hematology, 1999
Targeted radiotherapy using either radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies or bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals can potentially result in delivery of high radiation doses to tumor or bone marrow with less toxicity to normal organs. High-dose radioimmunotherapy has produced encouraging results in lymphoma and leukemia.

[Transplant conditioning and transplant size in heterotopic autologous spleen transplantation].

Langenbecks Archiv fur Chirurgie, 1984
In an experimental study we compared two methods of preparing transplants in rabbits (n = 66): 4-5 splenic fragments with a thickness of 1 mm and graduated weight (5-800 mg) were attached onto the peritoneal peritoneum. Splenic homogenates with increasing weight (5-800 mg) were placed in 4-5 preformed pockets in the parietal peritoneum.

Transplants for non-lethal conditions: a case against hand transplantation in minors

Journal of Medical Ethics, 2018
Human allografts for life-threatening organ failure have been demonstrated to be lifesaving and are now considered to be standard of care for many conditions. Transplantation of non-vital anatomic body parts has also been accomplished. Hand transplantation after limb loss in adults has been shown to offer some promising benefits in both functional and ...
