Disruption of Treg Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis via Ferroptosis‐Mediated ETC Collapse and TXK‐STAT3/PLCγ1 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rheumatoid arthritis, synovial Tregs accumulate but are functionally impaired due to iron overload‐induced ferroptosis. This triggers mitochondrial dysfunction and TXK tyrosine kinase‐mediated signaling, leading to Treg destabilization and inflammation.

Increased tumor recurrence by M2 macrophages after liver transplantation

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives Liver transplantation (LT) is a well-established option of cure for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with 5-year survival rates that exceed 70% in Hong Kong. One of the challenges in LT remains to be the high tumor recurrence rate.

Prednisolone as preservation additive prevents from ischemia reperfusion injury in a rat model of orthotopic lung transplantation

open access: yes, 2013
The lung is, more than other solid organs, susceptible for ischemia reperfusion injury after orthotopic transplantation. Corticosteroids are known to potently suppress pro-inflammatory processes when given in the post-operative setting or during ...

Immune Reconstitution in the Patients with Talasemia Major after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction: Beta-thalaccemia (beta-TM) is one of the most common, autosomal recessive inherited hematologic disorder in the world. Since hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is the only curative treatment, determination of cellular immune ...

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Single‐Cell Dissection of Tumor‐Infiltrating Lymphocytes Reveals Cellular Architecture Predictive of Therapeutic Efficacy in Acral Melanoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Autologous tumor‐infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy shows promising efficacy in acral melanoma, yet determinants of durable response remain unclear. By integrating single‐cell transcriptomics and TCR sequencing, this study reveals that TIL products enriched for T follicular helper and intermediate exhausted T cells establish persistent clonal ...

Estimation of Right-Lobe Graft Weight From Computed Tomographic Volumetry for Living Donor Liver Transplantation

open access: yes, 2019
Background The objective of the study was to establish a right-lobe graft weight (GW) estimation formula for living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) from right-lobe graft volume without veins (GVw/o_veins), including portal vein and hepatic vein ...

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,
