We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

All-strain based valley filter in graphene nanoribbons using snake states
A pseudo-magnetic field kink can be realized along a graphene nanoribbon using strain engineering. Electron transport along this kink is governed by snake states that are characterized by a single propagation direction. Those pseudo-magnetic fields point

Boltzmann theory of engineered anisotropic magnetoresistance in (Ga,Mn)As
We report on a theoretical study of dc transport coefficients in (Ga,Mn)As diluted magnetic semiconductor ferromagnets that accounts for quasiparticle scattering from ionized Mn$^{2+}$ acceptors with a local moment $S=5/2$ and from non-magnetic ...

DATA MINING APPLICATIONS IN TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING
Data mining is the extraction of implicit, previously unknown and potentially useful information from data. In recent time, data mining studies have been carried out in many engineering disciplines. In this paper the background of data mining and tools is introduced.

Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

This study simultaneously investigated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients. The elevated expression of JUNB and CXCR4 in CTCs was a poor prognostic factor for SCLC patients, whereas exosomal overexpression of these biomarkers revealed a high discrimination ability of patients from healthy individuals,

Comparison of semi-Lagrangian discontinuous Galerkin schemes for linear and nonlinear transport simulations [PDF]
Transport problems arise across diverse fields of science and engineering. Semi-Lagrangian (SL) discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods are a class of high order deterministic transport solvers that enjoy advantages of both SL approach and DG spatial discretization.
