This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

The effects of water and microstructure on the performance of polymer electrolyte fuel cells [PDF]
n this paper, we present a comprehensive non-isothermal, one-dimensional model of the cathode side of a Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell. We explicitly include the catalyst layer, gas diffusion layer and the membrane.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Moisture and salt transport in three-layer plaster/substrate systems
We have investigated whether a plaster which has two plaster layers with different pore sizes can act as a salt accumulating plaster system, in which salt crystallizes in the base layer of the plaster and not in the substrate or at the external surface ...

Scalar Transport Characteristics Near the Turbulent/Non-Turbulent Interface in a Reactive Jet Flow
Turbulent/non-turbulent interface (T/NTI) layer separates the turbulent and non-turbulent regions. The study of T/NTI is helpful to deepen the understanding of mass transfer between turbulent and non-turbulent regions.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
