Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

A Comprehensive Study of Laboratory-Based Micro-CT for 3D Virtual Histology of Human FFPE Tissue Blocks

open access: yesIEEE Access
Advances in laboratory-based X-ray computed tomography (CT) have enabled X-ray 3D virtual histology. This method shows a great potential as a complementary technique to conventional 2D histology where extensive volumetric sampling is necessary.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Research on numerical simulation for partial discharge of epoxy interface excited by high‐frequency sinusoidal voltage

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2022
High‐frequency sinusoidal voltage excitation is proposed as a feasible method to solve the difficulty of partial discharge detection at the epoxy interface. In order to study the development process of partial discharge under high‐frequency stress, a two‐

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Quantitative measurements of phase using the transport of intensity equation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2008
In this paper we present considerations for experimental recovery of electron phase using the TIE algorithm as applied to TEM images. Realistic simulations have considerably aided interpretation of results. Experimental reconstructions show that low spatial frequency artefacts in the phase reconstruction, resulting from very small variations in the ...

Flow-turbulence interaction in magnetic reconnection

open access: yes, 2011
Roles of turbulence in the context of magnetic reconnection are investigated with special emphasis on the mutual interaction between flow (large-scale inhomogeneous structure) and turbulence. In order to evaluate the effective transport due to turbulence,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
