FUNDAMENTALS FOR PREVENTING ACETYLENE COMBUSTION AND DETONATION IN EQUIPMENT [PDF]

open access: yesАктуальные вопросы пожарной безопасности
The scientific and technical bases for ensuring fire and explosion safety in the handling of acetylene are considered. Safe operation with acetylene in the equipment can be ensured by localization of the combustion source by the following methods ...

CELSS Transportation Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Regenerative life support systems based on the use of biological material was considered for inclusion in manned spacecraft. Biological life support systems are developed in the controlled ecological life support system (CELSS) program.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Transport catalysis

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 2006
Carrier linked solute transport through biomembranes is analysed with the viewpoint of catalysis. Different from enzymes, in carriers the unchanged substrate induces optimum fit in the transition state. The enhanced intrinsic binding energy pays for the energy required of the global conformation changes, thus decreasing the activation energy barrier ...

Transportation Systems Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
A methodology for the analysis of transportation systems consisting of five major interacting elements is reported. The analysis begins with the causes of travel demand: geographic, economic, and demographic characteristics as well as attitudes toward ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Applications of Gyroscopic Effect in Transportation

open access: yesNaše More (Dubrovnik), 2018
This article describes gyroscopes and their effects in various fields of everyday life. Gyroscopic effect is ability (tendency) of the rotating body to maintain a steady direction of its axis of rotation.
