Edible Pouch Motors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Edible robotics is an emerging field that leverages edible materials to construct robotic systems. This study presents a method to create thin, lightweight, yet powerful edible soft actuators, namely edible pouch motors. The successful operation of these edible actuators and grippers renders their potential to advance future developments in edible ...

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

Root‐Stimulated Movements in Mimosa Pudica for Biohybrid Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that thermal and electrical stimulation of Mimosa pudica root induces movement of the petiole and pinnules without direct stimulation of the aerial organs, thereby enabling a plant‐based robotic gripper and providing a foundation for the development of intelligent and sustainable systems.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Mediated Intercellular Communication: Mapping the Interactome for Skeletal Muscle Homeostasis and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...

0-6877 (Phase 1): Communications and Radar-Supported Transportation Operations and Planning (CAR-STOP) [Project Summary]

open access: yes
A recent NHTSA report indicates that more than 80% of all annual car crashes could be prevented by vehicular communications. To that end, the focus of this project was to develop a framework (conceptualizations, processes, procedures, and algorithms) to ...

Driving Characteristics and Speed Behaviour Parameters of Direct Traffic at Intersections Based on Field Driving Tests

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb)
To reveal the speed control behaviour and manoeuvring characteristics of direct vehicles that stop-go through signalised intersections, a large-scale field driving test was carried out in Chongqing to collect vehicle data under natural driving conditions.
