A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Ambulance traffic accidents and their impact on prehospital personnel: a mixed-methods study

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine
Objective Prehospital personnel operate in environments with a significant risk of on-duty traffic accidents. We investigated the prevalence and characteristics of on-duty ambulance traffic accidents and explored how prehospital personnel perceive and ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Patient assessment instruments for secondary transport: a scoping review

open access: yesMillenium, 2023
Introduction: Secondary patient transport plays an important role in inter-hospital transfers, either due to the need to perform unavailable complementary diagnostic tests or due to the lack of technical or human resources in the continuity of care in ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A pilot study on feasibility and hypothesis exploration: reducing on-scene length of stay of the emergency teams via ambulance dispatch teleconsultation for prehospital examination [PDF]

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo)
Objective Ambulance transport time is an important metric in prehospital care. Limited studies have explored strategies to decrease on-scene time. We examined the effect of collecting telemedicine-based medical data during ambulance dispatch on the on ...
