Technical Feasibility of a Murine Model of Sleeve Gastrectomy with Ileal Transposition [PDF]

open access: yesObesity Surgery, 2018
Sleeve gastrectomy with ileal transposition has been shown to be superior to sleeve gastrectomy alone for promoting weight loss in rat and porcine models. The absence of a mouse model for this procedure has impeded efforts to understand the molecular physiology underlying its efficacy.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Pollution wash-off modelling on impervious surfaces: calibration, validation, transposition

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1999
This paper presents the modification and the application of the conceptual wash-off model initially proposed by the SWMM on five separate urban catchments with very different characteristics and during a lot of rainfall events. To allow measurements on real sites to be considered, this model was incorporated in an overall model including simulation ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Critical behavior of the S=1/2 Heisenberg ferromagnet: A Handscomb quantum Monte Carlo study

open access: yes, 2000
We investigate the critical relaxational dynamics of the S=1/2 Heisenberg ferromagnet on a simple cubic lattice within the Handscomb prescription on which it is a diagrammatic series expansion of the partition function that is computed by means of a ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Competitive Assessments for HAP Delivery of Mobile Services in Emerging Countries

open access: yes, 2012
In recent years, network deployment based on High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) has gained momentum through several initiatives where air vehicles and telecommunications payloads have been adapted and refined, resulting in more efficient and less expensive ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

THE META-DIDACTICAL TRANSPOSITION: A MODEL FOR ANALYSING TEACHERS EDUCATION PROGRAMS

open access: yes, 2013
This RF intends to continue the reflection developed in the RF "Teacher knowledge and teaching: viewing a complex relationship from three perspectives" by D. Ball, C.Y. Charalambous, M. Thames, & J.M. Lewis (PME 33, Thessaloniki, 2009). It presents Meta-Didactical Transposition, as a new model for framing teacher education projects that takes both the ...
