Low-Density Parity-Check Codes from Transversal Designs with Improved Stopping Set Distributions [PDF]
This paper examines the construction of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes from transversal designs based on sets of mutually orthogonal Latin squares (MOLS). By transferring the concept of configurations in combinatorial designs to the level of Latin

On the number of transversal designs
Bounds are obtained on the number of distinct transversal designs TD(g, n) (having g groups with n points in each group) for certain values of g and n. Amongst other results it is proved that, if 2 < g ≤ q + 1 where q is a prime power, then the number of nonisomorphic TD(g, ) designs is at least qαrq2r(1-o(1)) as r → ∞ , where α = 1/.

Transversal designs and induced decompositions of graphs [PDF]
We prove that for every complete multipartite graph $F$ there exist very dense graphs $G_n$ on $n$ vertices, namely with as many as ${n\choose 2}-cn$ edges for all $n$, for some constant $c=c(F)$, such that $G_n$ can be decomposed into edge-disjoint ...

Embeddable transversal designs
The embeddability of certain (group) divisible designs in symmetric 2-designs is investigated. These designs are symmetric resolvable transversal designs. It is proved that all such transversal designs with v = 2k are embeddable and some necessary and sufficient conditions for other cases are given.

Transversals and blocking sets in H^(3)-designs
If H^(h) is a subhypergraph of order n of K_v^(h), the complete and h-uniform hypergraph of order v, an H^(h)-decomposition of K_v^(h), also called an H^(h)-design of order v, is a pair Σ=(X,B), where B is a partition of the edge-set of K_v^(h) into ...

Influence of pacifier design on pacifier-palate contact: a finite element analysis [PDF]
Objective The study compares the contact pressure and pressure distribution of various pacifier shapes on the palatal surfaces of newborns and six-month-old infants using nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA).

Transversal Designs of Block Size Eight and Nine
The author uses a mixture of direct and recursive constructions to almost settle the existence problem for transversal designs with index \(\lambda> 1\) and block sizes \(k= 8\) and \(k= 9\) (with just a few open cases). This is a major result, since it is the first result that goes beyong the work of Hanani who settled the corresponding problem for ...
