Laboratory‐Scale Procedure for Evaluating the Flux Efficiency on Melt Cleanliness and Tensile Properties of Recycled Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...

Single‐Crystal Castability of CM186LC Nickel‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The optimal conditions to obtain single‐crystal (SX) castings of the directional solidification nickel‐based superalloy CM186LC, are investigated. Cylindrical samples are cast via a proprietary SX Bridgman process. The effect of solidification rates (V) ranging from 1 to 10 mm⋅min−1 on the microstructure is explored.

A Note on the Topological Transversality Theorem for Weakly Upper Semicontinuous, Weakly Compact Maps on Locally Convex Topological Vector Spaces

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
A simple theorem is presented that automatically generates the topological transversality theorem and Leray−Schauder alternatives for weakly upper semicontinuous, weakly compact maps. An application is given to illustrate our results.

Transversality Conditions for Higher Order Infinite Horizon Discrete Time Optimization Problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we examine higher order difference problems. Using the "squeezing" argument, we derive both Euler's condition and the transversality condition. In order to derive the two conditions, two needed assumptions are identified. A counterexample,

Additive Processing of Ti‐17 by Wire Arc Directed Energy Deposition: An Investigation of the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study focuses on processing the titanium alloy Ti‐17 using wire arc directed energy deposition (waDED), with an emphasis on the microstructure and mechanical properties. The waDED typical heat‐affected zone banding is characterized and related to the local mechanical properties.

ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ERP SYSTEM : CONCEPTUALIZATION AND OPERATIONALIZATION

open access: yesJournal of Information and Organizational Sciences, 2012
The interest of firms in ERP systems has been echoed in both the scientific andprofessional literature. It is worth noting however that while this literature has becomeincreasingly abundant, there does not yet exist an operational definition of the ERP ...

Bioinspired Materials, Designs, and Manufacturing Strategies for Advanced Impact‐Resistant Helmets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how bioinspired materials, structures, and manufacturing strategies transform helmet design to achieve enhanced impact resistance. Drawing inspiration from nacre, porcupine quills, beetle exoskeletons, and skull architectures, it highlights advances in auxetic lattices, nanocomposites, and functionally graded foams.

Some General Theorems for Compact Acyclic Multifunctions

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
We present general Leray-Schauder type theorems for compact acyclic Multifunctions, using the topological transversality theorem by the author.

Computing Birational Polynomial Surface Parametrizations without Base Points

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
In this paper, we present an algorithm for reparametrizing birational surface parametrizations into birational polynomial surface parametrizations without base points, if they exist.

Medial/skeletal linking structures for multi-region configurations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We consider a generic configuration of regions, consisting of a collection of distinct compact regions $\{\Omega_i\}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ which may be either smooth regions disjoint from the others or regions which meet on their piecewise smooth ...
