Objective Ultrasound (US) has been proposed as a potential tool for assessing skin fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc). However, a large‐scale comparison of US‐based assessment with histological markers of skin fibrosis has not been reported. We evaluated the US‐based skin assessments for their face validity (differentiation between involved SSc and ...

Holomorphic flexibility properties of complex manifolds [PDF]
We obtain results on approximation of holomorphic maps by algebraic maps, jet transversality theorems for holomorphic and algebraic maps, and the homotopy principle for holomorphic submersions of Stein manifolds to certain algebraic manifolds.Comment: To

In this study, exciting new bi‐/multi‐linear elastic behavior of soft elastic composites that accompany the activation of wrinkling in the embedded interfacial layers is analyzed. The new features and performance of these composite materials, including dramatic enhancements in energy storage, can be tailored by the concentration of interfacial layers ...

On transversely holomorphic foliations with homogeneous transverse structure
In this paper we study transversely holomorphic foliations of complex codimension one with a transversely homogeneous complex transverse structure. We prove that the only cases are the transversely additive, affine and projective cases. We shall focus on the transversely affine case and describe the holonomy of a leaf which is "at the infinity" with ...

Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.

Subgrain and Cavity Development during Creep of Al‐3.85%Mg
Al‐3.85%Mg does form subgrains if crept at very high strains. This fact allows the unification of the creep description in two different alloys such as pure Al and Al–Mg alloys. It is classically considered that the creep mechanisms for type M (e.g., pure Al) and type A alloys (e.g., Al–Mg alloys) are different.

On the direction of the velocity and magnetic field fluctuations in undisturbed solar wind
Measurements of velocity and magnetic field in near-Earth heliosphere is analized in order to investigate systematical deflection from transversality of the velocity and magnetic field fluctuations in undisturbed solar wind.

Ni‐base superalloys produced using additive manufacturing (AM) have a different response to heat treatments when compared to their conventional counterparts. Due to such unpredictability, various alloys with industrial interest are currently overlooked in most prior AM research.
