Enriched Environment Enhances Motor Function in Mice With Cerebral Infarction by Promoting mTOR‐Dependent Autophagy in the Contralateral Dentate Nucleus

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although environmental enrichment (EE) promotes post‐stroke motor recovery, the mechanisms underlying its regulation of cerebellar dentate nucleus (DN) plasticity remain unclear; this study therefore investigated how EE coordinates autophagy, mitochondrial homeostasis, and synaptic remodeling in the contralateral DN to facilitate functional ...

Speech and Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson's Disease, Essential Tremor, and Dystonia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐analysis

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Deep brain stimulation (DBS) effectively treats motor symptoms in movement disorders but often compromises speech through incompletely defined mechanisms. We conducted a PROSPERO‐registered systematic review and meta‐analysis of publications through August 2024 (CRD42024527738).

MRI in Sheep Model for Myelomeningocele Repair Using a Novel Polymer and Other Dural Patches

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare postnatal MRI outcomes after prenatal myelomeningocele repair using three different dural substitutes. Method 32 sheep fetuses were included, with 34.3%(11/32) serving as healthy controls and the remaining undergoing prenatal spinal lumbar defect creation to recreate a myelomeningocele in the fetus.

The value of fetal transverse cerebellar diameter in diagnosing fetal growth restriction

open access: yes
This study is an analysis of literary sources devoted to the use of transverse cerebellar diameter (TCD) and its relation to fetal abdominal circumference in the diagnosis of fetal growth restriction and determination of gestational age.

Evolution of hierarchical phase‐contrast tomography on the European Synchrotron beamlines BM05 and BM18: a whole adult human brain imaging case study

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
The evolution of hierarchical phase‐contrast tomography (HiP‐CT) from its origins at the BM05 beamline to its transition to BM18 (ESRF‐EBS) is shown. The novel hardware and scanning approach developments resulted in significantly improved data quality, resolution, sensitivity and speed.

Pilot Study of Fetal Brain Development and Morphometry in Prenatal Opioid Exposure and Smoking on Fetal MRI

open access: yes, 2021
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to assess for any differences in brain maturation, structure and morphometry in the fetus exposed to opioids in utero, compared to non-opioid exposed fetuses on fetal MRI.

A Review of the Australian MRI Linac Program: From Pie in the Sky to Research Milestone

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Australian Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Linear Accelerator program (MRI linac) was a major research project that aimed to build and test a unique MRI linac prototype for cancer treatment. It aimed to improve radiotherapy anatomical targeting and explore physiological targeting. The purpose of this report is to summarise the development

Fertility outcomes and ovarian function recovery after anti‐NMDAR encephalitis: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Acute hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian axis suppression is common in anti‐NMDAR encephalitis, yet ovarian function and fertility recover favorably even in teratoma‐associated cases, supporting reassuring long‐term reproductive prognoses. Abstract Introduction Anti‐N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate receptor (anti‐NMDAR) encephalitis predominantly affects women of ...

Predicting Fetal Intrauterine Growth Retardation by Using Reference Centile Charts

open access: yesSiriraj Medical Journal, 2008
Objective: To predict fetal intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) by using the centile chart for the ratio of transverse cerebellar diameter to abdominal circumference (TCD/AC) throughout pregnancy from 13-40 weeks.
