Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Behavior of Short Columns Reinforced with Welded Wire Fabric as Transverse Reinforcement under Concentric Loading

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2011
The purpose of this study was to investigate the behavior of concrete columns reinforced by Welded Wire Fabric, WWF, as transverse reinforcement under concentric loading and to compare the results with concrete columns reinforced by round bar as tie ...

Shear design of reinforced concrete beams with FRP longitudinal and transverse reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yesComposites Part B: Engineering, 2015
The shear resisting mechanisms of reinforced concrete (RC) beams with longitudinal and transverse FRP reinforcement can be affected by the mechanical properties of the FRP rebars. This paper presents a mechanical model for the prediction of the shear strength of FRP RC beams that takes into account its particularities.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Fire Behavior of Lightweight Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams and Enhanced Structural Performance via Varied Stirrup Spacing – An Integrated Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering
The behavior of lightweight reinforced concrete deep beams (LRCDBs) under fire conditions is investigated in this study, with a specific focus on the effect of varying transverse reinforcement spacing.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Effect of Uncertainties in Material and Structural Detailing on the Seismic Vulnerability of RC Frames Considering Construction Quality Defects

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This paper evaluates the effect of construction quality defects on the seismic vulnerability of reinforced concrete (RC) frames. The variability in the construction quality of material properties and structural detailing is considered to assess the ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Punching Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Slabs without Transverse Reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yesACI Structural Journal, 2008
A mechanical explanation of the phenomenon of punching shear in slabs without transverse reinforcement is presented on the basis of the opening of a critical shear crack. It leads to the formulation of a new failure criterion for punching shear based on the rotation of a slab.
