Inclusion of Transverse Shear Deformation in Finite Element Displacement Formulations
AIAA Journal, 1974A stiffness matrix is derived for a beam element with transverse shear deformation. It is shown that straightforward energy minimization yields the correct stiffness matrix in displacement formulations when transverse shear effects are considered. Since the TIM4 beam element does not represent the geometric boundary conditions for a cantilever beam ...

Peridynamic modeling of composite laminates with material coupling and transverse shear deformation
Composite Structures, 2020This study presents a new state-based PeriDynamic (PD) model of a composite laminate with arbitrary laminate layup; it captures all types of material couplings in the presence of transverse shear deformation. It consists of normal and shear bonds instead

Bending of elastic plates with transverse shear deformation: The Neumann problem
Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2018A generalized Fourier series method is constructed to approximate the solution of the Neumann problem in a finite domain for the system of equations governing the bending of elastic plates with transverse shear deformation. The method is illustrated by an example with computation performed by 3 different techniques that are contrasted and compared for ...

On a Laminated Orthotropic Shell Theory Including Transverse Shear Deformation
A constitutive relation for laminated orthotropic shells which includes transverse shear deformation is presented. This relation involves composite correction factors k112, k222 which are determined from an analysis of plane waves in a plate with the ...

The Effect of Transverse Shear Deformation on the Bending of Laminated Plates
Journal of Composite Materials, 1969A bending theory which includes transverse shear deformations is presented for laminated plates. Closed form solutions are obtained for bending deflections, flexural vibration frequencies, and buckling loads of simply-supported rectangular plates of special construction. Results show that shear deformation can significantly effect gross plate re sponse

A refined nonlinear theory of plates with transverse shear deformation
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1984A higher-order shear deformation theory of plates accounting for the von Kármán strains is presented. The theory contains the same dependent unknowns as in the Hencky-Mindlin type first-order shear deformation theory and accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains through the thickness of the plate.

The vibration of the nonhomogeneous arthotropic plates with transverse shear deformation
2011 5th International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies (AICT), 2011This paper deals whith the vibration of rectangular plates made of nonhomogeneous orthotropic materials including transverse shear deformation. The vibrstion equations are derived in generalized form. Concrete formulas for frequancy of the vibratin are received. The numerical example is concidered.

Effect of Transverse Shear Deformation on Anisotropic Plate Buckling
Journal of Composite Materials, 1982Critical in-plane normal and shear loads of rectangular anisotropic laminated plates are presented. These were calculated using the shell code FASOR, which includes the effect of transverse shear deformation. For simply-supported orthotropic laminates with midplane symmetry normal buckling loads are verified by a closed-form solution derived from ...
