Unsteady propagation of a disk crack in a transversely isotropic medium
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1983The axisymmetric problem of unsteady disk crack propagation in a transversely isotropic medium is solved. The general problem of dynamic crack motion under the action of given loads is made to close by introducing a fracture criterion. Estimates are presented for the displacements in unloading waves emitted by the growing crack.

On two coplanar cracks in an infinite transversely isotropic medium
International Journal of Engineering Science, 1972Abstract This paper concerns the problem of two coplanar cracks in an infinite transversely isotropic medium. The analysis is carried out by using a solution of an equilibrium equation expressed by displacements under plane problem. The expression of crack energy for the medium, different from for the isotropic medium, is obtained.

The Discontinuous Solution for the Piece-homogeneous Transversal Isotropic Medium
2009The method of the reduction of the problems about the inter-phase defects in the piece-homogeneous transversal isotropic medium to the systems of the 2D singular integral equations is proposed. The method is based on the proposed way of solving the boundary Riemann problem in the space of the generalized functions of the slow growth in part of the ...

Interpretation of SDMT tests in a transversely isotropic medium
2006This paper presents theoretical aspects of wave propagation in a transversely isotropic medium, aimed at providing a framework within which cross-hole (CH), down-hole (DH) and seismic dilatometer tests (SDMT) can be correctly interpreted. In particular, as an example, tests performed at the well documented Fucino site, with the source located at ...

Decomposition of a compliance tensor for fractures and transversely isotropic medium
Geophysical Prospecting, 2013ABSTRACTThe purpose of this paper is to develop an analytical method to decompose an observed anisotropic compliance tensor into two transversely isotropic (TI) tensors that are associated with layers and fractures. Specifically, the fracture parameters and the TI background medium parameters are obtained from a given monoclinic compliance tensor. Here
