Penny-Shaped Dugdale Crack in a Transverse Isotropic Medium
International Journal of Fracture, 2012Analytical results for a penny-shaped crack with a plastic zone at the crack front are given. The crack is embedded in an infinite transversely isotropic elastic medium and is assumed to be subjected to two identical axisymmetric loads on the upper and lower crack faces.

Exact elastic impedance matrices for transversely isotropic medium
Geophysics, 2016ABSTRACT Conventional elastic impedances are derived as scalars by means of the integration of reflectivity. In this sense, they are attributes of the seismic reflection but not the intrinsic physical property of the subsurface media.

Reflection of Waves in Visco-thermoelastic Transversely Isotropic Medium
International Journal for Computational Methods in Engineering Science and Mechanics, 2013The main objective of the present paper is to study the propagation of waves in the viscoelastic transversely isotropic medium in the context of thermoelasticity with GN theory of type II and III. With the help of boundary conditions on displacements, stresses, and temperature distribution, wave equations have been solved. Numerically simulated results

Analytic waveforms for a line source in a transversely isotropic medium
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1990In order to clarify anisotropy effects on body wave propagation, exact transient solutions radiated from horizontal line sources of stress discontinuities in a transversely isotropic medium with a vertical axis of symmetry are formulated by a modified Cagniard method which gives the inverse Laplace transform in an ingenious manner. The advantage of the

On three coplanar cracks in an infinite transversely isotropic medium
International Journal of Engineering Science, 1978Abstract This paper concerns the problem of determining the stress distribution in an infinite transversely-isotropic medium containing three coplanar cracks. The analysis is carried out by using a solution of the equilibrium equations expressed in terms of displacements under plane strain assumption.

Cylindrical Borehole Failure in a Transversely Isotropic Poroelastic Medium
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2017Rocks underground often have pores and bedding planes, which are appropriate to be described by the transversely isotropic poroelastic constitutive model. Drilling boreholes in these rocks must be careful, since stresses and pore pressure would change with time, because of the inherent time dependent property of poroelasticity as well as pore fluid ...

Plane waves in a transversely isotropic rotating magnetothermoelastic medium
Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics, 2012The governing equations for a transversely isotropic rotating magnetothermoelastic medium are solved, giving a cubic velocity equation, which is indicative of three plane waves. Some limiting cases are considered: in the absence of anisotropy, rotation, and thermal and magnetic effects.

Solutions for the Inclined Borehole in a Porothermoelastic Transversely Isotropic Medium
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2005A porothermoelastic solution of the general problem of the inclined borehole in a transversely isotropic porous material is presented herein and compared with the isotropic porothermoelastic solution. The governing equations are outlined for the case of general anisotropy and specialized for a transversely isotropic poroelastic material under ...
