Glucose and fructose contributions to exogenous carbohydrate oxidation and performance at moderate altitude

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Co‐ingesting fructose with glucose increases exogenous carbohydrate oxidation at sea level, but its effect at altitude is unclear. This study compared glucose–fructose (GLU–FRU), glucose alone (GLU) and placebo during 120 min of running at 70% V̇O2max${{\dot{V}}_{{{{\mathrm{O}}}_2}{\mathrm{max}}}}$ at 2500 m in eight males.

Caloric restriction and aerobic exercise differentially counteract muscle–tendon dysfunction following diet‐induced obesity in C57BL/6J mice

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Diet‐induced obesity induced fibro‐adipogenic remodelling of the muscle–tendon unit, characterized by increased fibrosis, reduced specific force, impaired relaxation kinetics, elevated hysteresis, and reduced aerobic capacity and glucose tolerance.

From “how” to learn to “what” to learn in multiagent systems and robotics

open access: yesAI Magazine, Volume 47, Issue 4, Winter 2026.
Abstract There remains much more to Artificial Intelligence than understanding how to learn with neural networks. Inspired in part by how babies, and humans in general, tend to choose for themselves what (and when) to learn in addition to how to learn, this article discusses similar opportunities, in the areas of multiagent systems and robotics ...

Myelin Maintenance and Addition Regulate Synaptic Plasticity in the Adult Mouse Cortex

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 12, December 2026.
We report that existing myelin allows neurons to remain plastic throughout life, while new myelin progressively stabilises synapses along the basal but not apical dendrites of layer V pyramidal neurons in the motor cortex. ABSTRACT Myelin has the capacity to affect synapse number or plasticity across the lifespan.

Biomechanical Responses to Level, Uphill, and Downhill Running Segments During an Outdoor Marathon

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated running biomechanics across varying slopes during a mass‐participation road marathon. Although laboratory studies suggest specific gait modifications occur in response to varying slopes, data from outdoor competitive environments remain scarce.
