The hidden diversity of lichenised Trebouxiophyceae (Chlorophyta)
Phycologia, 2018The class Trebouxiophyceae is comprised of coccoid to ellipsoid unicells, filaments, blades and colony-forming species of green algae occurring in diverse terrestrial and aquatic environments. Some representatives have evolved parasitic heterotrophic lifestyles, others have been investigated for their biotechnological potential and others have evolved ...

Arsenolipids in the green alga Coccomyxa (Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta)
Phytochemistry, 2019Lipid-like compounds containing a dimethylarsinoyl group, i.e. Me2As(O)-, have been identified by liquid chromatography/inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC/ICP-MS) and non-aqueous reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (positive and/or negative high-resolution tandem electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (NARP-HPLC/HR ...

Siderocelis irregularis (Chlorophyta, Trebouxiophyceae) in Lake Tanganyika (Africa)
Biologia, 2008Siderocelis irregularis Hindak, representing a genus Siderocelis (Naumann) Fott that is known from European temperate waters, was identified as a common phytoplankter in Lake Tanganyika. It was found aposymbiotic as well as ingested (possibly endosymbiotic) in lake heterotrophs, mainly Strombidium sp. and Vorticella spp.

Studies on uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase fromChlorella kessleri(Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta)
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 2007Uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase (UroD) (EC 4.1.1.37) is an enzyme from the tetrapyrrole biosynthetic pathway, in which chlorophyll is the main final product in algae. This is the first time that a study on UroD activity has been performed in a green alga ( Chlorella ).

Genotype versus Phenotype Variability in Chlorella and Micractinium (Chlorophyta, Trebouxiophyceae)
Protist, 2006The most recent revision of the genus Chlorella, based on biochemical and SSU rDNA analyses, suggested a reduction to a set of four "true" spherical Chlorella species, while a growing number of morphologically different species such as Micractinium (formerly Micractiniaceae) were found to cluster within the clade of "true"Chlorella.

Parietochloris incisa comb. nov. (Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta)
Phycological Research, 1996SUMMARYA coccoid green alga, Myrmecia incisa Reisigl, was isolated from the soil of Mt Tateyama, Japan. Electronmicroscopy revealed that the organism has pyrenoids sparsely covered with starch segments and traversed by many parallel thylakoid membranes, and zoo‐spores with counterclockwise basal body orientation.

Generic concept in Chlorella‐related coccoid green algae (Chlorophyta, Trebouxiophyceae)
Plant Biology, 2010AbstractUsing a combined set of sequences of SSU and ITS regions of nuclear‐encoded ribosomal DNA, the concept of the experimental algal genus Chlorella was evaluated. Conventionally in the genus Chlorella, only coccoid, solitary algae with spherical morphology that do not possess any mucilaginous envelope were included. All Chlorella species reproduce

Phylogenetic position of Actinastrum hantzschii LAGERHEIM 1882 (Chlorophyta, Trebouxiophyceae)
Algological Studies/Archiv für Hydrobiologie, Supplement Volumes, 2002Actinastrum hantzschii LAGERHEIM is characterized by spindle-shaped cells that are truncated at one end and arranged 3-dimensionally in colonies. An isolate of the alga was characterized by the use of light and electron microscopy as well as 18S rRNA gene sequencing. Despite morphological differences, phylogenetic analyses indicated that A.

Isolation and characterization of new Botryococcus braunii (Trebouxiophyceae) isolates
Renewable Energy, 2019Abstract Four isolates of Botryococcus braunii Kutzing were isolated from the Nile River in Egypt. The morphological examinations and results of 5.8S rRNA gene sequences confirmed that EG-Bb01 (JN580448.1), EG-Bb02 (JN580449.1), EG-Bb03 (JN580450.1) and EG-Bb04 (JN580451.1) are B. braunii.
