Phase ambiguity resolution in trellis-coded modulations

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1990
A rotation detection algorithm for solving the phase ambiguity problem in trellis-coded modulations is proposed. This algorithm is simple to implement and may be an efficient alternative to rotationally invariant codes. Its performance has been investigated by simulation and appears promising. >

Joint trellis coded quantization/modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1991
A joint source/channel coding system constructed using trellis coded quantization (TCQ) and trellis coded modulation (TCM) is described. Identical trellises are used in the TCQ and TCM systems, and a straightforward mapping of TCQ codewords to TCM symbols is presented which guarantees that Euclidean squared distance in the channel is commensurate with ...

Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation Schemes

2000
The effectiveness of trellis coded modulation (TCM) techniques, proposed by Ungerboeck in 1982 [1], for communication over bandwidth limited channels is well established. TCM schemes have been applied to telephone, satellite and microwave digital radio channels, where coding gains of the order of 3-6dB are obtained with no loss of bandwidth or data ...

Noncoherent trellis coded amplitude-phase modulation

Seamless Interconnection for Universal Services. Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM'99. (Cat. No.99CH37042), 2003
The novel noncoherent coded modulation (NCM) scheme introduced by Raphaeli (see IEEE Trans. Commun., vol.44, no.2, p.172-83, 1996) is extended for non-constant energy symbols. Theoretical performance analysis, based on deriving the pairwise error distribution over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel applying the independent overlapped ...

Butterfly structure in trellis-coded modulation

Seamless Interconnection for Universal Services. Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM'99. (Cat. No.99CH37042), 2003
Trellis coded modulation was designed to improve error performance of synchronous data links without sacrificing data rate, or expanding bandwidth. The codes are interpreted as binary convolutional codes with a mapping of coded bits into multilevel/phase signals to increase free Euclidean distance.

Turbo trellis-coded spatial modulation

2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
In this paper, a turbo trellis-coded spatial modulation (TTCSM) transmission scheme is proposed. In trellis-coded spatial modulation (TCSM) scheme, the information bits used to select the transmit antenna index are encoded. In order to increase the performances of the TCSM scheme, a parallel concatenated encoding scheme can be used. Therefore, the TCSM

Turbo Trellis-Coded Differential Chaotic Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2018
In this brief, a novel turbo trellis-coded differential chaotic modulation (TTC-DCM) system is proposed, where parallel concatenated trellis codes are combined with the ${M}$ -ary differential chaotic shift keying ( ${M}$ -ary DCSK) scheme.

Turbo trellis code modulation using MQAM

Journal of Electronics (China), 2002
The paper presents a kind of reasonable structure for implementing MQAM T-TCM based on the principles of turbo codes and TCM for the first time. It can also be expanded to PSK T-TCM system, and the corresponding decoding algorithm is derived. By computer simulation, its performance is analyzed.

Punctured Trellis-Coded Quantization and Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2006
We propose a punctured trellis-coded quantization (PTCQ) scheme as the dual of a known punctured trellis-coded modulation (PTCM) scheme, and then generalize a combined trellis-coded quantization/modulation (TCQ/TCM) scheme to a combined PTCQ/PTCM scheme, with rates optimally allocated between source coding and channel coding to match the given channel ...

Bandwidth-efficient trellis coded modulation schemes

IEEE International Conference on Communications, Including Supercomm Technical Sessions, 1990
The author proposes a scheme that shapes the power density spectrum of the transmitted signal to reduce its bandwidth. The encoder is modeled as a finite-state machine consisting of a shift register and a mapper. A pulse-shaping filter generates time-limited or Nyquist pulses. The whole system is optimized with respect to bandwidth and power efficiency,
