When Does Alzheimer's Disease Start? Plasma Aβ42/40 Assays Show Steep Changes at Aβ‐PET Centiloid 15, Mean Age of 66 Years

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 5, Page 1327-1342, May 2026.
Objective Sporadic late‐onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by a long pre‐clinical phase where amyloid‐beta (Aβ) and tau begin to accumulate in the brain. The primary objective was to determine the age at which AD starts by finding the average population age when both positron emission tomography (PET) Aβ (Aβ‐PET) and plasma Aβ42/40 become ...

Deep learning‐based H&E‐derived risk scores in colorectal cancer: associations with tumour morphology, biology, and predicted drug response

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 1, Page 112-124, May 2026.
Abstract Over recent years, several deep learning (DL) models have been presented to predict colorectal cancer (CRC) patient survival directly from haematoxylin and eosin (H&E)‐stained routine whole‐slide images (WSIs). Unlike traditional studies that rely on manually defined histopathological features, weakly supervised DL allows training directly on ...

Influence of Peptide‐Based Chelator Sequences on HER2‐Targeting Radiopeptide

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
Peptide‐based chelator consisting of Cys‐Gly‐Gly‐Gly incorporated into HER2‐targeting rL‐A9 peptide for 99mTc‐labeling. [99mTc]Tc‐CGGG‐rL‐A9 exhibited high binding affinity and tumor uptake and retention. ABSTRACT In our pursuit of developing HER2‐targeting radiolabeled peptides for detection and therapy of HER2‐positive breast cancer, the previously ...

Safety of [68Ga]Ga‐FAPI‐46 PET/CT including hemodynamic measurements and patient‐reported outcomes in cancer patients

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 46, Issue 3, May 2026.
Abstract Introduction Aim Fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) has demonstrated promising oncological diagnostic performance. Although no adverse events (AEs) have been previously reported, a formal safety evaluation of FAPI PET/CT is lacking.

Methodological advancements in microfluidic and carbonylation PET radiochemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Along with the progress of PET as a powerful imaging tool in medicine, there has been increasing demand for new labeling methods. The main aim of this PhD dissertation was to develop novel labeling methodologies using the positron emitter carbon-11.

Radioiodination of Two Carborane‐Based Dual Cyclooxygenase‐2/5‐Lipoxygenase Inhibitors and Their In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
Two dicarbadodecaborane(12)‐based dual cyclooxygenase‐2/5‐lipoxygenase (COX‐2/5‐LO) inhibitors were 123I‐labeled. Refinement of labeling and formulation conditions and extensive in vitro characterization are presented. Cell uptake studies in COX‐2‐ and 5‐LO‐overexpressing cell lines showed COX‐2‐independent and partly 5‐LO‐dependent uptake.

Breakpoints in Alzheimer's disease biomarkers and cognition across the aging spectrum: The Mayo Clinic Study of Aging

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION We examined when Alzheimer's disease biomarkers become informative by identifying age‐related breakpoints with slope‐changing trajectories. METHODS In 2082 Mayo Clinic Study of Aging participants, we modeled plasma amyloid beta (Aβ)42/40, phosphorylated tau (p‐tau)181, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), neurofilament light ...
