High prevalence and genetic diversity of Treponema paraluisleporidarum isolates in European lagomorphs

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
The bacterium Treponema paraluisleporidarum causes syphilis in lagomorphs. In a set of 1,095 samples from four species—European brown hare, mountain hare, Corsican hare, and European rabbit—we tested for infection and genotyped the strains that infect ...

Protective immunity induced by Tp0136 epitope vaccines with mRNA LNP or protein delivery

open access: yesnpj Vaccines
Syphilis, caused by Treponema pallidum, remains a major global health burden. Given the key role of T cell–mediated immunity in T. pallidum clearance, this study evaluates a Tp0136-derived T-cell epitope (Tp0136T1) delivered via two platforms: lipid ...

Isolation and Characterization of Oral Treponemes.

open access: yesTHE JOURNAL OF THE STOMATOLOGICAL SOCIETY,JAPAN, 1993
The oral treponemes were isolated on nine media and classified according to Anaerobe Laboratory Manual (1977). The four media, which were used with the plate-in-bottle method, were Medium 10 (M10), M10 supplemented with 10% rumen fluid, M10 supplemented with 10% rabbit serum and cocarboxylate, and M10 added with rifampicin.
