Background assessment for the TREX dark matter experiment [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2019
AbstractTREX-DM is conceived to look for low-mass Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) using a gas Time Projection Chamber equipped with Micromegas readout planes at the Canfranc Underground Laboratory. The detector can hold in the active volume$$\sim 20~l$$∼20lof pressurized gas up to 10 bar, corresponding to 0.30 kg of Ar or 0.16 kg of Ne ...

Picking a way forward: valuing and managing traditional shellfish gathering for Littorina littorea

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources, 2018
Littorina littorea (periwinkles) have been harvested by hand picking from the shore since prehistoric times. Harvests are generally unregulated, catches are not linked to particular shores and fisheries statistics are considered to be unreliable.

Structural basis for high-order complex of SARNP and DDX39B to facilitate mRNP assembly

open access: yesCell Reports, 2023
Summary: mRNA in eukaryotic cells is packaged into highly compacted ribonucleoprotein particles (mRNPs) in the nucleus and exported to the cytoplasm for translation.

TRex, a fast multi-animal tracking system with markerless identification, and 2D estimation of posture and visual fields

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Automated visual tracking of animals is rapidly becoming an indispensable tool for the study of behavior. It offers a quantitative methodology by which organisms’ sensing and decision-making can be studied in a wide range of ecological contexts.

Cryo-EM structure of the yeast TREX complex and coordination with the SR-like protein Gbp2

open access: yeseLife, 2021
The evolutionarily conserved TRanscript-EXport (TREX) complex plays central roles during mRNP (messenger ribonucleoprotein) maturation and export from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In yeast, TREX is composed of the THO sub-complex (Tho2, Hpr1, Tex1, Mft1,

Molecular insights into mRNA export regulation by the human TREX-2 complex

open access: yesNature Communications
The nuclear export of mRNA represents a critical regulatory node in eukaryotic gene expression. This process is orchestrated by two conserved multi-subunit assemblies: the transcription-and-export complex (TREX) and TREX-2.

Analysis of transitions at two-fold redundant sites in mammalian genomes. Transition redundant approach-to-equilibrium (TREx) distance metrics

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2006
Background The exchange of nucleotides at synonymous sites in a gene encoding a protein is believed to have little impact on the fitness of a host organism.

Prion‐Like Protein LENG8‐Mediated Nucleation Drives Stress Granule Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LENG8 is a newly identified stress granule (SG) nucleator required for SG assembly. Following stress, nuclear LENG8 granules disassemble, allowing LENG8 to translocate into the cytoplasm and form independent nucleation foci. These foci fuse with canonical early G3BP1/TIA1 seeds via LENG8‐TIA1 binding to drive SG maturation.

Structural mechanism of DDX39B regulation by human TREX-2 and a related complex in mRNP remodeling

open access: yesNature Communications
Nuclear export of mRNAs in the form of messenger ribonucleoprotein particles (mRNPs) is an obligatory step for eukaryotic gene expression. The DEAD-box ATPase DDX39B (also known as UAP56) is a multifunctional regulator of nuclear mRNPs.

Drivers and Challenges of Micro‐Irrigation Adoption and Intensity in India: A Study of Four States

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT India's food security relies substantially on groundwater, but inefficient irrigation is seriously depleting this resource. Micro‐irrigation (MI) improves irrigation application efficiency and productivity, yet adoption remains low. This study examines MI adoption across four major Indian states—Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and ...
