Influences of Diet Quality, Nursery‐Habitat Complexity and Sex on Brain Development and Cognitive Performance of Brown Trout (Salmo trutta L.)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
We demonstrate that variation in environmental inputs in early ontogeny can, in part, account for divergence in brain development and cognitive performance in brown trout. We also unveil a partial compensatory mechanism to address nutrient deprivation through bioconversion and routing of crucial omega‐3 fatty acids to brain membranes.

Granulysin Antimicrobial Activity Promotes Dormancy in Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 8, August 2025.
Exploiting a high‐dimensional mass cytometry approach, we demonstrate that CD56+ lymphocytes promote Mycobacterium tuberculosis dormancy by delivering granulysin, a cytotoxic effector molecule with known antimicrobial activity. ABSTRACT Human tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) remains a global public health threat.

Exploring the Potential of Liposomal Delivery of Naringenin and Berberine for Browning Adipose Tissue and Obesity Management

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 127, Issue 8, August 2025.
Biocompatible and biodegradable liposomes were developed to encapsulate naringenin (N) and berberine (B), enhancing their stability and bioavailability. Their effects on thermogenesis and browning in 3T3‐L1 preadipocyte cells compared to their free forms were investigated.

Fractionation of Edible Fats: Model Fat‐Oil Separation in Decanter Centrifuge

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 127, Issue 8, August 2025.
A model system was investigated, and fat crystal agglomerates were effectively separated from oil using a lab‐scale decanter centrifuge. High hydrostatic pressure on the bowl wall results in a compacted cake. Low cake axial transport velocity allows sufficient time for the olein to be removed from the cake pores.

Gallic Acid and Vitamin C Mitigate Histopathological Changes in the Retina by Attenuating Dyslipidemia and Mitigating Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Apoptosis in the Eyes of Type 2 Diabetic Rats Induced With Fructose/Streptozotocin

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
The study showed that vitamin C treatment was better than gallic acid, and its combination with gallic acid enhanced the therapeutic effect of gallic acid. Vitamin C and the combination of gallic acid and vitamin C produced better histological changes in the retina of the diabetic rats than gallic acid alone, while the combined therapy produced better ...

GREM1 deficiency induced bone marrow adipose niche promotes B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia disease progression

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 157, Issue 3, Page 559-572, 1 August 2025.
What's new? Too often, children treated for B‐cell acute lymphocytic leukemia (B‐ALL) experience relapse. Here, the authors investigate the role of dyslipidemia in leukemia progression. Higher adipogenicity in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, and increased triglyceride accumulation, are associated with higher risk of death.
