Monoterpenoids from Artemisia austriaca essential oil disrupt hormone‐mediated reserve mobilization to suppress Avena fatua seed germination

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 10, Page 6911-6927, October 2025.
Terpenoid compounds from the essential oil of Artemisia austriaca, particularly camphor and 1,8‐cineole, infiltrate seed tissues and impede the germination of Avena fatua (wild oat) seeds by disrupting gibberellic acid and abscisic acid levels, as well as inhibiting critical enzymes involved in starch, lipid and protein metabolism.

Los ácidos grasos trans modifican parámetros nutricionales y el metabolismo de triacilglicéridos en ratas: efectos diferenciales a niveles recomendados y elevados de grasa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction: there is still little evidence on the metabolic trans fatty acids (TFA) effects at recommended fat levels. Objective: to investigate the differential TFA effects on some nutritional parameters, TFA retention, and triacylglycerol (TAG ...

GC‐MS‐Based Metabolomics for Understanding the Metabolite Profile of Mopane Worm (Gonimbrasia belina) and Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L)

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 90, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Edible insects are nutritious, having high levels of protein, essential amino acids, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. In areas where sorghum is a primary crop, mixing this gluten‐free grain with protein‐rich insect powder provides a novel approach to making nutrient‐rich products.

Function and dysfunction of fatty acid mobilization: a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Western populations have a growing obesity epidemic due in part to excessive nutrient intake from high-fat diets, which are increasingly common. Overindulgence of nutrients is associated with a greater incidence of metabolic dysfunction and a greater ...

Transcription factors and candidate functional SNPs associated with variation in fatty acid composition from skeletal muscle of pigs

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 56, Issue 5, October 2025.
Abstract Pork is an essential source of fatty acids (FAs) in the human diet. Fatty acids are important for various biological processes and can impact transcription regulation. The primary objective of this study was to identify candidate functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) associated with FA ...

Lipolysis and lipases in white adipose tissue – An update

open access: yesArchives of Endocrinology and Metabolism
Lipolysis is defined as the sequential hydrolysis of triacylglycerol (TAG) stored in cell lipid droplets. For many years, it was believed that hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and monoacylglycerol lipase (MGL) were the main enzymes catalyzing lipolysis in ...

Isolation of lipase producing bacteria from olive extract to improve lipase production using a submerge fermentation technique [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food and Bioprocess Engineering, 2018
The tremendous mounting interest in lipase production is pertinent to the biotechnological applications that these enzymes offer. Lipase, belonging to the hydrolyze enzymes, is involved in copious biological functions including: hydrolysis insoluble ...
