Isonitrile Photochemistry: A Functional Group Class Coming in from the Cold
Isonitriles, often neglected for their unpleasant smell, have fascinated many generations of chemists thanks to unique reactivity modes. The present concept article, by retracing the seeds of isonitrile photochemistry, points out the hidden opportunities offered by visible light photo(redox) catalysis to promote key advancements in the field.

Rapid Electrophilic 211At‐Astatination of Trimethylgermyl Arenes
211At‐Astatodegermylation: Different ortho‐, meta‐, and para‐substituted trimethylgermyl arenes were astatinated at low precursor amounts (0.15 μmol) in trifluoroacetic acid with an average radiochemical conversion (RCC) of ca. 50 % for electron‐rich and approx. 70 % in case of electron‐deficient arenes.

In a 100 mM-KCl medium (pH 6.8) containing ATP, triethyltin (1 muM) causes a decrease in the uptake of pyruvate, malate, citrate or β-hydroxybutyrate by rat liver mitochondria, but no decrease is observed in a 100 mM-KNO3 medium.
