Trichodinids (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) on Rocky-tidal Fishes from the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico.

Journal of Parasitology, 2020
Information regarding trichodinid ectoparasites on marine fishes of North America is relatively scarce. In this study, 5 ciliate species from the family Trichodinidae were found associated with 8 fish hosts from the rocky intertidal zone of the western ...

A new species of Trichodina lishuiensis n. sp. (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) in urinary bladder of Odorrana schmackeri (Amphibia: Ranidae) from Zhejiang, China.

Acta Tropica, 2021
Endoparasitic trichodinids are rather rare ciliates. In this study we describe a new species named Trichodina lishuiensis from the bladder of Odorrana schmackeri collected in Zhejiang, China, with the prevalence of 20% (9/45). We identified T. lishuiensis as a new species by morphological comparison and molecular analysis.

New data of two trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) from farmed freshwater fishes in Hubei, China.

European Journal of Protistology, 2017
Trichodinids are ciliated protozoan parasites or symbionts of marine and freshwater organisms. During a parasitic ciliate survey in Hubei, China, two Trichodina species, T. acutaLom, 1961 and T. hyperparasitis Chen & Hsish, 1984, were isolated from body surface of loach Misgurnus anguillicaudatus and gills of yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco ...

A new species of Trichodina Ehrenberg, 1830 (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) infecting farmed Clarias gariepinus (Burchell) (Siluriformes: Clariidae) in Cuba

Systematic Parasitology, 2017
A new species of Trichodina Ehrenberg, 1830 collected from the skin and fins of farmed North African catfish Clarias gariepinus (Burchell) fingerlings, is described. The new species can be distinguished from other trichodinids by the characteristics of the adhesive disc, especially by the great number of denticles. Trichodina merciae n. sp.

First record and morphological study of Trichodina centrostrigeata (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) from Oreochromis mossambicus (Actinopterygii: Cichlidae) in Nanded and Parbhani district, Maharashtra, India

Journal of Natural History
The ectoparasitic ciliate Trichodina centrostrigeata Basson, Van As & Paperna, 1983 (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) was identified for the first time in Mozambique tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus Peters, 1852 (Actinopterygii: Cichlidae), from the Godavari ...

Trichodinid (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) Infections in Perch (Perca fluviatilis) Experimentally Exposed to Pulp and Paper Mill Effluents

Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2011
Wild-caught European perch (Perca fluviatilis) were exposed in the laboratory to untreated bleached pulp and paper mill effluent in two separate experiments. The first experiment was conducted at 7-8°C using effluent concentrations of 5 and 10%, and the second experiment was conducted at ambient river temperature of 4-20°C using an effluent ...

Occurrence of Trichodina heterodentata (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) infesting tadpoles of Rhinella pombali (Anura: Bufonidae) in the Neotropical area

Parasitology International, 2009
Data on trichodinid ciliophorans in Brazil are scarce and generally do not use the modern silver-impregnation technique, which is essential to the taxonomy of the group. The present study reports not only on the first occurrence of Trichodina heterodentata in Brazil but also on the first record of this trichodinid infesting tadpoles of the species ...
