Trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare and only recently characterized cutaneous disease occurring in immunocompromised patients. The disease is characterized by spiny follicular papules on clinical examination and by the presence of viral inclusions at ultrastructural examination.

Trichodysplasia Spinulosa: Rare Presentation of Polyomavirus Infection in Immunocompromised Patients
Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, 2014Background: Trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare, striking, folliculocentric papular eruption seen exclusively in immunosuppressed patients. The eruption can be disfiguring, associated with leonine faces and alopecia. TS is caused by a polyomavirus, identified as trichodysplasia spinulosa polyomavirus (TSPyV)

AbstractTrichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare disease associated with immunosuppression and induced by a polyomavirus denominated Tricodisplasia Polyomavirus (TSPyV). We report a case of TS 6 months after kidney transplantation in a 65 years‐old woman under immunosuppression therapy with prednisone, mycophenolate and tacrolimus.

ABSTRACTTrichodysplasia spinulosa‐associated polyomavirus (TSPyV), a newly identified polyomavirus, has been implicated as a causative agent of trychodysplasia spinulosa (TS), a rare proliferative skin disease in severely immunocompromised hosts. Diagnosis using mAbs is a promising tool with high specificity towards the specific antigen.

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) and trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) are two proliferative cutaneous diseases caused by the Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) and trichodysplasia spinulosa-associated polyomavirus (TSPyV) respectively. Recently, studies have elucidated a key role of the small tumor (sT) antigen in the proliferative pathogenic mechanisms of ...
