Triflumezopyrim, a novel mesoionic chemical insecticide, is promoted as a powerful tool for control of susceptible and resistant hopper species in rice throughout Asia. For a newly commercialized insecticide it is important to establish susceptibility baseline, conduct susceptibility monitoring, and assess the risk of resistance via artificial ...

Risk assessment and resistance inheritance of triflumezopyrim resistance in Laodelphax striatellus
Pest Management Science, 2022AbstractBACKGROUNDLaodelphax striatellus (Fallén) (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) is one of the most important insect pests of rice, and it has been able to develop strong resistance to many insecticides. Triflumezopyrim, a new type of mesoionic insecticide developed by Corteva Agriscience, showed high biological activity in controlling piercing‐sucking ...

Mesoionic pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidinones: Discovery of triflumezopyrim as a potent hopper insecticide1
Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2017A novel class of mesoionic pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidinones has been discovered with exceptional insecticidal activity controlling a number of insect species. In this communication, we report the part of the optimization program which led to the discovery of triflumezopyrim as a highly potent insecticide controlling various hopper species.

Triflumezopyrim (TFM) is a new mesoionic insecticide developed by DuPont. Like other neonicotinoid insecticides, it binds to the orthosteric site of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR), but the binding mode has not been reported. Nicotinic acetylcholine binding proteins (nAChBPs) are ideal alternative structure for nAChRs.

AbstractBACKGROUNDTriflumezopyrim, a novel commercialized mesoionic chemical insecticide, has been confirmed as a promising insecticide for efficiently controlling the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stål). Here, a laboratory triflumezopyrim‐resistant (TR) strain and an isogenic susceptible (TS) strain were established to characterize the ...

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to be important post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression and have been shown to be associated with insecticide resistance in insects. In this research, we show that a miRNA, PC-5p-30_205949, is involved in triflumezopyrim susceptibility via regulating expressive abundance of cytochrome P450 CYP419A1 and ATP ...

Triflumezopyrim, a newly commercialized molecule from DuPont Crop Protection, belongs to the novel class of mesoionic insecticides. This study characterizes the biochemical and physiological action of this novel insecticide. Using membranes from the aphid, Myzus persicae, triflumezopyrim was found to displace (3)H-imidacloprid with a Ki value of 43 nM ...
